Life of a Cheerleader

The life of a cheerleader On a cold winter’s afternoon in the waiting room of a small hospital a fifteen year old girl named Grace who loves to cheer, cheering since she was five it is her world, when she is on the matt she is in her own world, waits patiently for the doctor’s results. After waiting an hour the doctor concludes she will need surgery. Grace a fifteen year old girl with blond hair and blue eyes is not only an excellent student but also follows her dream of cheerleaders. She has cheered since she was five years old.

To her it is not only a sport but a life style as well. Grace is a really caring person she tries her hardest to be a role model as well to her little siblings and family members. Other than cheer Grace also attends high school and manages to maintain good grades while she practices every day. “Despite what everyone says about cheerleaders not being a sport we prove them wrong, we work Just as hard as anyone athlete. We train all week so that we are ready for competitions. It is not all about the pompoms and skirts like people like to assume”.

As a cheerleader Grace’s specific Job is to base, she lifts girls in the air, throws them and then catches them. It’s a real stressful Job knowing that you could not only injure yourself but the life of another person” says Grace. However cheer is not the only thing she is concerned about, she is also currently in high school who tries real hard in every class to succeed in the real world. Then tragedy struck a part of Grace was gone. One day at cheer she came down real hard and hurt her back. Grace had thought it was Just sore from falling. O she continued to cheer with this injury. Little did she know that this would be a serious problem. A whole season went by without getting her back checked again, the pain came unbearable. When Grace finally went to the doctors he had some bad news to deliverer to her. The doctor had told her she could not cheer anymore, after this Grace’s world came crashing down. Grace finally accepted the fact she couldn’t cheer anymore however it took longer than she expected but she decided she wanted to coach a younger team of girls.

So Grace started to coach a five -six year old team. She made them work Just as hard she remembered working at their age. When competition came around she made sure they were prepared. She was still upset she could not be out there cheering eight alongside of her team but she was proud that she could help someone else out in return. Since she could not cheer she made sure those little girls were Just as good as the older team, she wanted everyone to know their recreation center wan the best. L might have gotten hurt but if I didn’t then these girls would not have a couch right now, I do not regret not cheering because I can live my dream through these girls and the best part is watching them and know they are having fun” says Grace. She really enjoyed helping the little girls live their dreams however it crushed her that he was not out there cheering with all her friends. Grace is a nice person and wanted to use her talent for the good of other people. Grace has been back and forth to physical therapy and Witt a little more work seen might even be able to cheer again.

However if she is able to cheer for her own team again Grace will not leave the team she coaches, she has put too much time and effort into making them a successful team, they trust, love and know her; if she were to leave them she would feel as if she was letting them down as well as herself. In conclusion Grace is my best friend who loves to cheer, however instead of sing her talents to lead her team to victory she is using her talents to help the younger girls follow their dreams.

Today grace is still not cheering for herself, however she continues to go to therapy twice a week for some extra help. Grace remains coaching as she would like to help lead the younger team to another victory. She also continues to manage good grades while trying to keep up with practices and therapy. She might not be able to cheer for herself but she stays as positive about what she is going through and I a strong person, and will continue to look at the bright side of every situation she is in.
