Go Soda-Free on Sundays
The main idea of this editorial is to encourage Kansans to not drink any type of soda on Sundays. Everyone knows that soda is not good for you, but it is so hard to stop drinking something that tastes so good! The editorial states that it may sound simple, but it could also be exceedingly challenging for some people. Going soda-free on Sundays would not be taking away anyone’s choices. This would mainly just focus on people making a healthier choice in their lives. Reducing the amount of soft drinks people consume on a weekly basis will also reduce medical costs. Recently, organizations have been created to encourage Kansans to sign a pledge to go soda-free on Sundays. Kansas Action for Children is the name of a child advocacy organization and they are creating a “Pass on Pop” campaign.
This editorial focuses on people making a healthier choice in their life by going soda-free on Sundays. Going soda-free one day out of the week comes with many benefits. Some of the benefits include lower medical costs, healthier lives, and cheaper expenses. Since we have such a high obesity rate, this is an effective editorial for people like us. This editorial can be that “first step” for people that are trying to have a healthier life style. The author of this editorial gets his point across and achieves his goal of wanting Kansans to go soda-free on Sundays. He provides valid facts and positive effects. After reading this article, it makes me want to watch how much soda I actually drink. I also plan on taking on the challenge and going soda-free on Sundays.
