The attempt to obtain donations for indyACT was brought about in this advert by accentuating the ironic image of disturbed, savage beauty.
The woman in this ad brings about feelings of hatred and sadness. At first glance, she appears very attractive. Her jet-black hair is tossed and messy, yet appealing. Her dark gaze is directed at the reader from every angle. She is captivating. Although her dark allure is infatuating, the spell quickly dissipates. She is evil. She is murderous and demented. There is blood on her legs, hands and face. The blood taints the previous feelings of attraction towards her. The previous attraction is now gone and feelings of disgust and hatred dominate the reader’s mind. The blood is not her own. She used a butcher knife to slaughter a bobcat. The blood on her hands and knife is fresh. The fresh blood conjures up images of a dying bobcat with this deranged woman standing over it. The animal is bleeding out from gaping wounds left by the knife the woman used. As the bobcat is dying, its breath becomes more and more shallow. Its eyes are still gleaming as it clings on to life; and as it looks up towards the sky one last time, the vampire-like woman plunges the knife into the bobcat’s chest, twisting the it to ensure death. The nearly dried blood on her mouth (back in the ad) indicates a literal bloodlust. It’s as if she feeds on the animal after its death. She now appears even more savage than before. She almost seems like a vampire. The dried blood on her mouth and the fresh blood on her hands indicate that she has just killed another bobcat. She hasn’t cleaned her mouth from her last kill and she has a look of ravenous hunger.
As the woman is dirty and bloody, the coat she is wearing is clean and unstained. This induces curiosity in the reader’s mind. “How is the coat so clean when the woman is covered in blood?” The perfectly…
