Football and Soccer both have similar and different general mechanics to playing the sports. Both sports have the idea of passing. While Football you throw the ball down field to a receiver; in Soccer you kick the ball to an open receiver. Both fields are usually 120 yards long. Both involve two teams playing against each other. Soccer has a spherical ball while foot ball uses an ellipsoid ball. Both games have eleven players from each team on the field.
Both sports have similar ideas on moving the ball down field to score. In Football and Soccer you can run the ball down field. Both might not get you that far though. Passing the balling can get you more yards down field. It has a chance of being stolen though. To score in Football you need to enter the end zone with the ball in your possession. In Soccer you must kick the ball inside the goal to score. Football has a way to score by kicking the ball; when you kick the ball thru the uprights you score.
How Soccer and Football is played is completely different. Soccer is a constant moving sport. In Football you have downs where the play is stopped and, the ball is placed where it was downed. In Soccer you move the ball down field by kick the ball to another player or running with it. In Football you can hand the ball off and run it. You can also pass the ball by throwing it to an eligible receiver. In Soccer you have to play offense and defense and, in Football you have designated position that you can only play. The playing the sports do are completely different.
