The Descendants
The Descendants is a movie that tells a very great story that has to deal with a modern family that has some real life issues going on. Many of us do not like to talk about these issues and how we deal with them sometimes defines who we are and us. I want to take a really deep view into this film through an analyzing approach. With doing so I will discuss the acting, storytelling, cinematography, sound, style, editing, and directing the film. In every movie a story is told (Goodykoontz & Jacobs, 2011), and this movie called The Descendants is no exception to this.
The movie, The Descendants is based on a novel that was written in 2009 by Kaui Hart Hemmings. The movie is a romantic comedy, which takes place on islands in Hawaii. The main character is a Honolulu lawyer that is named Matt King who is played by George Clooney. Matt King in the movie deals with a lot of real problems due to him being a lawyer. In the beginning of this film The Descendants it may look to many that it is a one-sided film showing how many families are dealing with loss. Later in the story you can see that it is much more than that to the story. With dealing with the death of his wife Matt soon realizes that he has several conflicts of his own.
Matt soon deals with many external conflicts in the film. Soon after his wife’s accident he decides it would be best to find his daughters and reunite with them. He soon begins to realize that this might not be as easy as he thought that it would be. He younger daughter Scottie played by Amara Miller is very unruly and his older daughter Alexandra is self-destructive played by Shailene Woodley. After talking to the daughters he finds out that his wife was not faithful to him and had an affair behind his back. He is very upset about this and decided to take the kids and…
