Constitutional Interpretation Final Draft
Most people think the Death Penalty should be allowed. But on the other hand people think the Death Penalty shouldn’t be allowed. These people who do believe that the death penalty should be allowed are correct. Government officials and judges always make mistakes. Unfortunately some of these mistakes can be tragic. People who get convicted of a crime they didn’t do and get killed for it is just wrong. But most of the time they are right and the correct person is killed. In the article “Current Issues: The Death Penalty” Peggy Parks writes about how the Eighth Amendment prohibits some people to not die from a bad crime. “ The court today holds that the Eighth Amendment categorically prohibits the imposition of the death penalty for the crime of raping a child.” (Peggy Parks). This quote clearly tells us that people who rape a child are not allowed to be killed. But the effects a child can have after going through that horrible crime are terrible. In some cases the child can get a horrible disease and maybe even die. The person that has raped the child should instantly be locked up and be killed. People who agree that death penalty shouldn’t be allowed better look at this quote and think to themselves what if it was my child or brother/sister that got raped, then what would they do in that position, kill the rapist or let him be free in jail? If we keep the death penalty the world will be a better place.
