As Gamma had no idea whether she would be living or dying during her times with TTY, she may as well risk her life if there is a slight chance she could save herself during these actions. Gamma endured through many struggles during her time in the dessert.
She survived escaping TV’s capture and being scorched by the sun. She survived being bitten by a poisonous snake. And over all, she survived being stolen. Body 1: Gamma took courageous steps to be able to take her ideas of escaping TV’s Custody and having the realization that she might not survive. Taking the old, dirty, needle from the sewing machine once again took massive courage for Gamma because what if it didn’t work out? What if Gamma then had to live with the consequences? Who knows what TTY would have done to Gamma because of his anger.
Getting into Toy’s car and knowing she might not escape must have been horrific for Gamma. ‘ But I knew why. Because it was my only chance; because I didn’t know when I’d leave this place again’ page 197. Gamma Just had to take the chance, she didn’t belong in the Australian outback with TTY and there might not have been any other chances for her to escape. Body 2: Gamma was starting to warm up to TTY by this time in the book. Maybe realizing that TTY wasn’t such a bad guy after all. He was Just desperate for love, and he wanted Gamma to give him that.
Once Gamma ad realized there was no way she was going to escape TTY, she Just had to except that he was all she had now, and that they might as well get along . ‘let’s hard to hate someone once you understand them’ But of course Gamma could never fully forgive TTY for taking her away, and tearing her from her family back in England. Living had become a complete struggle for her, and all she wanted was to die. What could be worse? Dying? It could be much worse than being in the middle of nowhere, looking out at nothing. Never being able to get away from it, and for all I know, I could be eating to be killed anyway page 83.
Once again, Gamma survived the feeling of nothingness. Because Gamma knew she was strong enough to live through this. Body 3: Towards the end of the book, Gamma endured through a massive struggle. Being bitten by a snake in the Australian outback. There’s no way Gamma could have survived without TV’s help. And this is one time Gamma is completely thankful for TTY. There’s nothing he cared about more than Gamma. And if there was any time Gamma was in danger, TTY would be there. ‘Don’t worry, it’s K’ you were over and over, ‘I’ll keep you safe’ page 250.
This was one time Gamma was unable to survive by herself. But being able to keep herself calm was brave of Gamma, and without TV’s help, she wouldn’t have been able to survive and escape without Toy’s help. Conclusion: Overall, the whole book is about survival. Gamma survived every single struggle that came her way during the book. But mostly every time, she wouldn’t be able to be a survivor without T help, so to course Gamma is thankful tort TTY. She was brave enough to keep herself sane through the whole kidnapping and dangers she endured, and for that, Gamma is a true survivor.
